The details

Regular membership

Regular members have full membership in the club, may vote on club matters at general meetings and may use any of the aircraft with an appropriate checkout.

Dues for regular members are $80 per month. Regular members are required to purchase a share in the club at $2500, which may be sold back to the club at the termination of membership.

Note: The club will purchase your share at face value, sans interest.

The purpose of the share purchase is two-fold. First, the club owns aircraft worth over $200,000.  Purchasing a share in the club makes each member an owner operator. Second,  the funds capitalize the club for the purchase of aircraft and equipment as needed.

If you wish to apply for regular membership, please go to the membership application page and follow the instructions there.

Student membership

Student members have full membership in the club, may vote on club matters at general meetings, but are restricted to flying the trainer aircraft (C-152).

Dues for student members are $25 for 2 seat and $50 for 4 seat aircraft per month. Student members are required to deposit $500 with the club, which is refunded at the termination of membership. If the student goes on to become a regular member, the $500 is applied to the regular member deposit.

The student member deposit can be used to help pay large flying bills over a period of months. This can be especially helpful near the end of primary instruction when the cross-country flying is done and the student is trying to "finish-up".

If you wish to apply for student membership, please go to the membership application page and follow the instructions there.

Family membership

Members of the immediate family of a Flying Particles Regular Member are eligible for Family Membership. Family members have all the flying privileges of regular members, but do not have voting privileges in general club meetings.

There is no deposit for a family membership. The family member shares the sponsoring regular member's deposit. There is a one-time non-refundable fee for a family membership of $25. Family member dues are $5 per month.

If you wish to apply for family membership, please go to the membership application page and follow the instructions there.

Flight Instructor membership

Flight Instructor members have a partial membership in the club. This category of membership is provided for Certificated Flight Instructors (CFIs) who wish to provide instruction for club members, but do not want to be members of the club. For insurance and safety reasons, all CFIs who provide instruction to club members in club aircraft must hold at least a flight instructor membership in the club.

There is a $300 deposit for a flight instructor membership, and the club charges $20 dues annually (in January).

If you wish to apply for flight instructor membership, please go to the membership application page and follow the instructions there.

Insurance

The club, and all of its members of record, is insured for $1M, 500k sub limit against aircraft accidents. Occupants of the aircraft and any person on the ground involved in the accident are covered. The deductible amount for accidents that occur when the aircraft is in motion is $500. The club's policy is that the deductible is the responsibility of the member operating the aircraft. The deductible amount for accidents that occur when the aircraft is not in motion is $100. The aircraft "hulls" are insured for their current market replacement value.
